Navient Sr Strategy Analyst in Newark, Delaware

Responsibilities will include reporting, strategy enhancements, strategy development, model testing, implementation, validation and other adhoc analytics. This analyst will be required to build relationships across the organization as well as within their immediate collections/business area to gain support and increase speed of execution of new strategies. In addition, the analyst will be responsible for the creation and interpretation of analysis/reporting/validations connected not only to strategies and/or models developed by the team but also ones used in day to day operations and forecasting. Tasks will include, but are not limited to: reporting and analysis on strategies and modeling performance, portfolio trends, performance metrics, strategy performance analytics, inventory management, development of new collection/business tools, creation of segmentation strategies, etc.

Duties include:

  1. Strategy Development
  2. Build or direct the build of statistical models for business application (Linear, Logistic Regression, CHAID, Cluster Models, Joint Odds, etc)
  3. Liaison with operations for strategy development, implementation and post implementation feedback
  4. Assess impact of strategic changes on loss forecast and expenses
  5. Identify and/or participate in external vendor management discussions as they relate to new strategies

  6. Strategy Validation

  7. Monitor strategy performance and communicate results in a timely manner.
  8. Understand goals of each strategy and communicate results appropriately
  9. Ensure the appropriate tests and controls are in place to evaluate strategies

  10. Organizational Skills

  11. Develop specific, detailed timelines with timetable descriptions for strategy implementation
  12. Manage implementation and review of existing / new operational strategies, analyses and models simultaneously
  13. Keep leaders in operations, business lines and business support groups informed of ongoing developments and early indications of strategy or model performance and operational metrics

  14. Ad Hoc Analysis

  15. Respond to requests for data and analytics needed by senior management team
  16. Assist with developing analytics which support operational changes.

  17. Portfolio Analysis

  18. Analyze portfolio performance by combination of variables and metrics
  19. Understand the true drivers of operations strategy and decision --making

Will consider candidates working remotely

Bachelor's Degree - Business, Accounting, Marketing, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Finance (additional equivalent experience above the required minimum substituted for degree).

  • 3+ years experience in strategy analysis (additional equivalent education above the required minimum may be substituted for experience)
  • 2+ years experience executing query languages such as SAS / SQL
  • Solid knowledge of financial services industry and the products and services offered
  • Ability to effectively analyze and interpret large amounts of raw data to accurately convey business needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify issues of a complex nature and effectively resolve.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required to effectively and concisely present key findings to senior management is a must.
  • Strong working knowledge in presenting quantitative data via PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Ability to adjust to fluctuating work load with the pressure of aggressive deadlines
  • Solid knowledge of financial services industry and the products and services offered
  • Experience with, Business Objects, Oracle Business Intelligence, Crystal Reports

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES: - Proficient with Microsoft Suite - Knowledge of SAS / SQL query languages - Experience with reporting, data mining, predictive modeling/model development and loss forecasting - Experience in the student loan Collections Industry
